Annual evaluations for Florida home education families.
Annual evaluations
Who this is for. Florida home education families who need an annual evaluation completed by a certified teacher.
What you receive
- A portfolio review and a conversation with your student
- A signed evaluation letter for your county
- A brief written summary of what I observed and what I'd suggest for next year
Fee
$35 per student. Additional siblings are $20 each.
How it works
- 01 — Book. Choose a time that works.
- 02 — Prepare. I'll send a short list of what to bring. Nothing elaborate.
- 03 — Meet. We review the portfolio together and I talk with your student. It's a conversation, not a test.
- 04 — Receive your letter. Signed and sent to you.
- 05 — File it. You submit it to your county.
Questions
How long does the meeting take?
Long enough to look through the work properly and talk with your student without rushing.
Is my child being tested?
No. We look through the work together and I talk with your student about what they've been learning. Most students enjoy it more than they expect to.
What if I'm worried about the portfolio?
Bring it anyway. Most parents are more worried than they need to be, and we can talk about what to build for next year.
What should we bring?
I'll send a short list once you book. Typically a portfolio of work samples and a log of activities.
Coaching for homeschool students
Homeschool students face the independence question earlier than anyone. Managing your own schedule, pacing your own work, and holding your own deadlines are learned skills, and not every student picks them up alone.
